Casper J McElroy (1913 - 2002) was a prolific big game hunter and founder of Safari Club International.

McElroy Hunts Mountain Game: Campfire Tales About Big Game Hunting On Six Continents by C J McElroy with Bill Quimby (2001) is filled with the variety of trophy hunting stories of which classics are made. Having started his quest for the world's mountain game in 1939, McElroy continued to hunt these great animals (sheep, goats, ibex, chamois and more) on every continent until 1990.

McElroy Hunts The Antelopes of Africa and Antlered Game by C J McElroy with Bill Quimby (2002) presents exciting and informative stories about hunting the highly coveted bongo, mountain nyala, bushbuck, sitatunga, greater and lesser kudu, nyala and eland. Some of the professional hunters who guided the author on hunts included Glen Cottar, Tony Seth-Smith, Karl Luthy, Derek McLeod, Durival Simoes, Norman Deane, Ian Henderson, Peter Johnstone, Gary Kelly, Rohil Nana, Gary Powell, Chappie Scott, Ron Sparrow, Claude Vasselet, Jose Ruis. The author took several hundred antlered animals representing 37 races and 19 species.

African Safari Of An Amateur Hunter by C J McElroy (1961) is the short account (77 pages) of the author's first African hunt which was a 30 day safari with White Hunters (Africa) Ltd in Kenya. During the 2x1 hunt with an old hunting friend, he sucessfully hunted the Big Five.
