by Johnny Johnson
(England.)
In 1913, the author signed up with the British Colonial Service and was sent to British East Africa (later Kenya) and this wonderful book charts his life as a civil servant in that wonderful country in those wonderful times.
Written with gentle British humour and charm, he takes you on a tour of what must have been one of the finest times to be in East Africa and this book goes a very long way to helping us understand why Africa is as it is.
I recommend this book as a romping good read for anyone with an interest in old Africa.
